Eileen DennisShe first met Sensei Kim in Hamilton, Ontario, at a tournament in 1973 when the Bu Toku Kai of Canada brought Sensei Kim in for a tournament and seminars.

Dennis was the acting secretary-treasurer at the time and was later put in charge of the Shorinji Ryu section in Canada by Sensei Kim.

Dennis began her training with Masaru Shintani in Grimsby, Ontario, in 1966, and then later became a student of Frank Wishart’s and then a student of Sensei Kim’s in 1972.

She ran her dojo in Grimsby for nearly 30 years before retiring from teaching.

Eileen was the driving force behind the summer camps in Guelph, Ontario, which she personally organized for Sensei Kim that so many Canadians attended for over 20 years. It was she who handled all the registrations as well as all the organization of the Shorinji section in Canada for so many years, acting as Sensei Kim’s strong right arm in Canada.

She developed many students over the years, including Don Racine, Lisa Robinson and many more.
