Farbatiuk began his training in karate in Detroit, Michigan, in the study of Okinawan Te. He then studied under Wado Ryu master Masaru Shintani in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He met Richard Kim for the first time in the summer of 1972 and this would be the start of many trips to follow.
Dennis traveled extensively with Sensei Kim to Hawaii and France, and he made many personal trips to San Francisco to enhance his already wide range of karate knowledge.
A champion in tournaments in both kumite and kata in the mid 1960s, Farbatiuk’s legacy is that of a strong, strong karate man who could fight toe-to-toe with anyone. Gifted with a huge, muscular body he was one of Sensei Kim’s proudest students in Canada.
Now living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada he still practices his karate the way he was taught by Sensei Kim.
Dennis Farbatiuk’s senior students include: Walter Bowman, Yulia De Wolfe, and Ralph Corvino.
