ANTONIO MOLINAR (continued)

He began his training in 1967. Molinar was, without a doubt, one of Sensei Kim’s best kata performers. He, along with two of Sensei Kim’s other top kata practitioners, competed for years in team kata and although they never won an ITKF world championship, many thought that they should have won in 1977 in Tokyo, Japan, when they did Yabu Chinto to absolute perfection.

Molinar’s quality in kata and his over all knowledge of kata was tremendous to say the very least – not just in open hand, but also in weapons.

Molinar, along with Frank Gaviola, were the ‘books of knowledge’ when it came to the katas of Sensei Kim.

He taught for many years in the San Francisco Bay area but stopped teaching around 1996.
