FIVE LEVELS OF FIGHTING (continued)

The first level is the most basic, that every one can do. It is, simply, when someone attacks, you block and run away from the person.

The second level takes training and depending on the person this can come in a short or long time. It is when a person attacks, you block and counter the person.

The next level takes a great deal of training and many who study the martial arts experience this occasionally. It is when an opponent attacks, you block and counter the attack simultaneously.

The next step is one of the highest levels of fighting and rarely is it learned. It is when you attack the person the moment he is thinking about attacking you. You pick this up from your opponent because of the keen development of your senses and learning to perceive those things which can not be seen.

But there is one level even higher when it comes to martial arts and this is the level that only a true master reaches and that is when an attack comes you are just not be there at all. In other words, you have perceived the attack before it was even conceived and are just not there at all.

As an example of this, if you know that one particular bar is a rough bar, well, you just don’t go to this place. The chances of a fight breaking out are much greater then if you go to a bar that that is known for its peaceful atmosphere.
